Guest House History

Weyhill's story begins nearly 50 years before the Revolutionary War. German immigrants Jakob and Susanna Gangewere settled the area, and their grandson Henry constructed the main house, now known as the Weyhill Guest House, in 1790.

Over the centuries, the property evolved alongside the region itself. Once farmland, the area later supported iron mining, brick manufacturing and eventually the growth of Bethlehem Steel. Influential figures including Frederick A. Shick and Quincy Bent helped shape the property's legacy, with Bent ultimately lending his name to Weyhill Farms.

In the 1950s, the property was acquired by Bethlehem Steel and later adapted for a variety of uses, including office space and a golf clubhouse locker room. The surrounding golf course became known as the Weyhill Course, honoring both the property's heritage and its connection to Saucon Creek.

Saucon Valley Country Club acquired the Weyhill Course in 1995 and the Guest House in 2002, preserving one of the region's most significant historic properties. Today, the Weyhill Guest House stands as a beacon of traditional hospitality, blending more than two centuries of history with modern amenities for members and guests alike.
