The smart play on this narrow dogleg hole is a fairway wood or hybrid from the tee. The tee shot is best hit with a slight draw that follows the narrow dogleg to the left. Miss the fairway and the player may not be able to carry the creek with their approach shot due to the very penal rough. A shot in the fairway will leave a short iron or wedge to a sloping green surrounded by bunkers and guarded in front by Saucon Creek. Hitting the two-tiered putting surface is no guarantee of par. It is easy to spin the ball back into the water if not careful.
